Dinner & Dance
My department has just sent an email marketing this year's dinner & dance. When compared to D&Ds for the private sector, my department's D&D is really a letdown. Not sure what's the common practice out there. But I have heard that staff for private companies do not have to pay for the event.
Well, neither I or my colleagues have that luck! We are expected to pay $25. It's not really a big sum. Usually I will cough it out after some griping and complaints. But I still do have some semblance of fun at the event itself.
However, this year's D&D proves to be a watershed year. One of the crazy morons in the management suggested that all senior staff within the organisation contributes $50 for the lucky draw prizes!!! This is absolutely absurd!!!! This simply means that we are effectively paying for our own gifts.
After hearing this, I totally flipped. The word ridiculous rang in my mind for quite some time. The things that people do to suck up to the 'big boss'. Now I am wondering if I should go for the event itself. Still do not feel like making the contribution, but what if I won a prize that night? People will say that I don't deserve it since I did not contribute. But if I contribute, I would be really sore about it. Sigh, think I will think of a way to conjure up something dingy gift as gifts are also accepted.
On a good note, I will be watching Matrix Revolutions tomorrow!!! At least there's something to look forward to in life.

Macabre lunch discussion topic
As with all lunches, we started early. Lunch for me was rice with lady's fingers and sweet & sour fish. Not sure what lady's fingers are called in other places, but it is a veg and not something from the hands of our Singaporean ladies.
Basically, me and my colleagues were chatting about upcoming movies - Matrix Revolutions, Identity etc. One thing got to another, and we began talking about horror shows. What triggered it was perhaps the fact that Singapore television will be showing The Ring (Japanese version) this coming Wednesday. I can't wait for it to screen!
Heard that it is one of the spookiest movie ever made. Guess I am a sucker for a good scare. Anyway, we progressed beyond that to personal experiences with the supernatural. Well, the only time I thought something weird happened to me was when I got lost in a building which I am supposedly quite familiar with.
Well, this incident took place sometime back in 2001. I was suppose to get to a particular room in this building for a course, but no matter how I searched for the place I just couldn't find it. It was bizzare. Morever, I was not alone. I can only surmise that both myself and my colleague are just 'blur'.
There were other more macabre stories. One of my colleagues said she saw something in one of the public incense burner structures found in our Housing Development Board (HDB) estates. I shall not recount what she said here as it is pretty scary.
