Captain's Log - Chapter 28
Weather - Cool office environment with an edge
Mood - Ok lah
STRESSED!!!
My boss has continued her unenlightened way of setting CRAZY deadlines! Have been working late almost every night for the past 2 weeks. Batteries are kinda flat. Am just glad the weekend is around the corner even though I will be in office tomorrow. This colleague of mine used to call the office environment 'Pleasantville'. Well, I guess we have moved downhill pretty much since then.... Elm Street is more like it now.
Life has been the same my last log exactly a month ago. Have started reading Lord of the Rings again. Realised that Peter Jackson has shortchanged us moviegoers by changing so many parts of the story. Well, I guess he has a budget to meet, but then I find Tolkien's original a cut above what we are seeing in the movie. So, if you really wanted to know what really happened, do pick up a book and read. Don't be lazy!
Not sure if Helen Keller is a name that is familiar to everyone. But I was introduced to this fascinating person (btw I think she died eons ago) through my well-read girlfriend. Basically, Helen is a deaf and blind person who broke through her disabilities to become one of the most inspirational person in this world. During a channel surfing session (I do this all the time - yeah guys tend to be surfers), I came across this movie. Well, it looked pretty B-grade, if you know what I mean. However, when I saw the little portraying a blind and deaf character, I immediately sat up and started watching the movie. Well, I guess I was always curious about Helen's life. Staying glued to the google box, I watched the movie till 12.30am. That's late for me as I have to wake up around 6.30am the next morning. But I did enjoy the movie!
I not only learnt more about Helen, but more importantly, I learnt that Helen's teacher - Annie Sullivan is such an inspirational figure! Although the movie is just a portrayal of Helen's life, what shone through was the perserverance (too lazy to check the dict) and tenacity of Annie. I shall look up to her when faced with the most difficult tasks. what can be more challenging and difficult than to reach out to a deaf and blind person the way Annie did with Helen.
SHE's MY HERO!!!

Whether you invite God into your life or not, He will always be there, patiently waiting for you to open your heart to him. So, open the doors of your hardened heart and bask in his love.
